The Repair Cafe started just before 10am and, until 11.30am, people entering the hall were greeted, by our excellent meet and greeter, and directed to the booking-in table. Everyone had to complete the appropriate forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Booking in started with a bike that needed the tyres pumping up and the brakes adjusting. It had provenance. It belonged to a local shop keeper who had used it, and loved it, for a long time, but for the last few years it had been stuck in the garage. She wasn’t going to ride it again, but couldn’t decide what to do with it. The Eco Group plans to help a local school to run Bike Bus, and would like to provide bikes for parents who wish to accompany their children on the ride to school, or to help others who need but can’t afford a bike. She decided to donate it to the Eco Group knowing it will be used, not scrapped. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customers, young and old, arrived at the booking-in table with clothes and bikes. The sewing team and bike check team worked steadily and all repairs were completed in good time. The sewing team, sitting close to the refreshments, worked well together making it seem like a social event , chatting and partaking free cuppas and a scone or two. The refreshments, for me, cake and coffee, are irresistible. It is not surprising that the hall fills up the way it does. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another Eco Group project is to encourage everyone to check if they are eligible for FREE retrofit insulation. While working on the Repair Cafe I was very lucky to make time to speak with a couple who should be eligible. With little time to spare I said I would send them the information they need. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am now waiting for feedback. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
