Chapel Beck Park Culvert 40 floods again!

A woman solved the flooding problem

Flood water covers my wellington boots

The grill under the bridge at culvert 40 in Chapel Back Park was blocked and water flooded onto the path. It was too deep to walk through in trainers. I’m wearing wellingtons.

Water flowing from the culvert across the path, down the embankment and into the Beck. The water on the path was deep and people could not walk through it.

A woman wearing trainers and pushing a buggy was not going to be stopped. In about 5 minutes she cleared the leaves and litter that were causing the blockage; the water stopped flowing onto the path and the water level fell.

The woman is removing the leaves and litter with a stick. When the blockage was cleared the water stopped flowing onto the path and embankment. It flowed under the bridge into the Beck and the water on the path drained away.

The water stopped flooding and the path began to dry.

When the path was dry enough to walk on she went off with her buggy. She received thanks from a number of people who had been stopped by the deep water and were now able to walk without getting too wet.

Conclusion

The grills do the job they were intended to do; They stop the detritus. To stop the flooding they need to be cleared from time to time.

Question

Who is responsible for clearing the grills and will they please clear them before they block and cause flooding?
