Did you know that burning adds fuel to climate change and Better Recycling can help to reduce it.
Climate Change is caused by carbon dioxide emitted from burning anything, including fossil fuels. Most people are aware of climate change but do what they want, when they want and enjoy having the choice. Would we make different choices if we knew how much of the dreaded CO2 is emitted by different modes of transport? Walking is popular in the borough. It does not create carbon emissions. You can see the emissions from other forms of transport in the pic below:

Keep your carbon emissions down?
It is difficult to see how you can reduce your carbon emissions unless you walk or cycle everywhere, and turn the heating off. Walking and cycling may sound fun but not always practical. Turn the heating on but maintain room temperature at 18ºC or 20ºC, wear a blanket or do lots of exercise to keep the bills down will help to keep CO2 emissions down too.

In round numbers Brits generate 10 tonnes of CO2 per year. If you are Climate conscious you may want to do better. You can change your diet, shut down anything electrical, create less waste and recycle better. It all helps.
Is this perverse?
Our area is now a focal point in the UK for the green revolution so why is the council thinking about building a 450,000 tonne pa incinerator.
Redcar and Cleveland council boasts ‘our area is now a focal point in the UK for the green revolution’ and has set an ambitious target for a carbon neutral borough by 2030. It has saved 14,000 tonnes of CO2 in 10 years. While we conscientiously do what we can to reduce our carbon footprint the council, perversely it is considering building an incinerator that will emit 450,000 tonnes of CO2 pa into our environment. That is equivalent to 7 tonnes pa of CO2 per person in Redcar and Cleveland.
Will you petition against it?
If you choose to keep your carbon emissions down and go for better recycling the cheap and simple alternative, or want to stop the incinerator for any other reason you can go to the sites and sign the petition to STOP THE INCINERATOR
